TEAM

  • Christen Nutter

Founder of Sallad Comedy. Christen does not think she is funny. But she is excited to be here.

Christen obtained the vision for Sallad Comedy in December of 2022. In January she sat down with each potential member for coffee and presented the vision. On February 5th, Sallad met for the first time. Christen is a visionary and a go-getter. She is known for making things happen and getting things done. She is also known for rallying people together to make something magical, and we are glad she used that superpower to create Sallad!

While Christen loves Sallad, most of her time is spent slinging houses as one of the top real estate agents in DFW. @homewithchristen

  • John Lovell

Co-founder of Sallad and affectionately known as Juan or “Love Shack Lovell.” John has been funny for most of his life, but his comedy journey officially began in 2022 when he studied under the wonderful tutelage of Four Day Weekend. It was watching John at his class performance that Christen first obtained the vision for Sallad.

John and Christen first met working with middle school students—which is basically entirely standup, improv, and sketch comedy all rolled into one job. Juan’s humor is dry and witty…but not in a way that makes anyone feel dumber. It invites you in and welcomes you to laugh. He’s a team player through and through. We don’t understand what Juan does for employment but it’s something that lets him work remote.

  • Caleb powell

Christen met Caleb at a party when he was wearing green velvet corduroy trousers. That’s when she knew this guy marches to the beat of his own drum. And then she never saw him again. Until finally they met up in person a year later at Halcyon…when he rode up on his dirt bike.

Caleb might be the only one in our tribe that participated in an actual comedy troupe — The Laugh Supper — so we lean heavily on his wisdom and experience. Caleb is both extremely intelligent and doesn’t care what people think about him, which is a prime combo in good comedy. More about Caleb: he went to Baylor, works in energy, throws a great party, enjoys hunting, and has a mean eye for photography.

  • Kelsey Foster

Kelsey is the ONLY Sallad member that Christen did not know prior to inviting everyone into Sallad. Christen tried to invite someone else but instead of saying yes they said “you need to talk to Kelsey!”

And boy are we glad that she did! Kelsey is spunky, witty, and a massive fan of puns. She is also the reason we have decided to film our process! She was the first person to suggest turning this into a documentary. Kelsey is a renown food photographer, and graciously lets us practice in her photography studio (our Sallad home!). Prior to joining Sallad, Kelsey was about to start taking classes in comedy and we’re glad we snatched her before anyone else did!

  • Caroline Taylor

When she’s not smoking fake cigarets on the Sallad stage, you can check out Caroline’s music on Spotify or maybe feel an extra connection when you drink Poppi drinks. But when she’s not improving or singing and working her marketing gig, Caroline can be found rapping at her own wedding, impersonating Kristin Wiig, dressing up as Guy Fieri, or throwing a fire Friendsgiving.

Caroline is a jewel. She marches to the beat of her own drum and brings others along with her. She’s magnetic, loves to laugh, and loves to make people laugh. She’s had extensive training in acting and singing and is a talented addition to our Sallad crew!

  • Joe Huff

Even though Joe and Christen were across the street neighbors for 7 months, they never actually met until after Christen moved away. She only knew him as the guy across the street who had a dog. And he only knew her as that one blonde girl. But they eventually became friends, and that’s when Christen realized that Joe had a flair for performing.

Joe sees the world through a Joe shaped lens, and it challenges you to view the world differently. He’s full of wit & sarcasm, authenticity & empathy…a fascinating combo. He is a great teammate and plays off of people really well. But the most fun is when Joe *comes alive*. He is a born entertainer, and there are sides to him that we only get to see when the spotlight is on.

Joe works which in the cell service industry and is basically an excel genius.

  • Kaelee Abbey

Kaelee and Christen have been friends the longest in the group and are currently roommates. There is no one. On the planet. Like Kaelee Abbey. Her favorite color is lime green. She’s obsessed with cats. Her dream job is: Disney Princess. I don’t think there’s a Disney movie she hasn’t seen. She just finished re-watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Kaelee is explosive with creativity and energy. She can take an idea and plus it to the moon. She is the ultimate YES AND human being. In terms of comedy, she has range — she can go way over the top or keep it subtle and low key. Plus she’s in the know. She’s always keeping tabs on what’s funny out there these days, and could probably give a whole presentation on the evolution of comedy in TikTok.

Kaelee works at an incredible co-working space called Roam!

  • Luke Ferraguti

Luke is perhaps one of the most creative people alive. He is the ultimate renaissance man. A gifted concert pianist, an actuary for Deloitte, an athlete (does a weight-vest Murph every Sunday), an avid reader, etc. When Christen first approached Luke about the idea of joining Sallad, it was intended to be in the role of comedic pianist. And while we are hoping to do some musical improv down the line, we started practicing with Luke as if he was just a normal part of the troupe. And turns out…he’s funny!

Luke is actually one of the most committed performers on our team. He can slip into a character and stay in that character in a substantive way. He is an anchoring presence in a scene and always comes up with unexpected twists and turns!

  • Kevin Smith

Kevin Kevin Kevin. Kevin is known by everyone who meets him as an absolute goober. Kevin is notorious for making up words and phrases that don’t exist and dropping them in everyday conversation as if they do exist. Kevin—like Christen—is a gatherer of people. He founded a monthly social gathering called Case of the Mondays which in two months was bringing over 100 people together for hangs, conversation, and laughs. It even expanded to Fort Worth!

Kevin is a total package performer. He can be serious, witty, goofy, slapstick, animated, thoughtful…he can do characters or play himself. He is creative and fun and an amazing storyteller! Behind that goober is a deep thinking force of nature. And behind that deep thinking force of nature is…a goober.
